Kafka that doesn't page you

Apache Kafka on AWS, run by Artie. You pay AWS's price for the infrastructure, plus 25% on brokers. Nothing else.

A dedicated Kafka cluster, live in under 10 minutes

Your brokers run only your workloads, in Artie Cloud or your own AWS account.

  1. Size the cluster

Choose how many brokers you need, starting at 20 GiB of disk each. You see the price before you create anything.

  2. Connect your clients

Connect any Kafka client over TLS. Only IP addresses on your allowlist get in.

  3. We run it from there

We replace failed brokers, rebalance partitions, grow disks, and roll out upgrades. Older data moves to S3, so you stop paying for disk you don't need. All you do is create topics and ship code.

We run it, you stay in control

  • Brokers that heal in place

A failed broker restarts on the same disk and catches up. Each message is stored on 3 brokers, so producers keep writing if one goes down.

  • Storage that autoscales

Disks grow before they fill, up to a limit you set, so a traffic spike doesn't force you to cut retention.

  • Tiered storage

Turn it on once for every topic, and choose how many days stay on broker disks. Older data lives only in S3, so keeping more history doesn't mean buying more disk.

  • Rebalancing with Cruise Control

When load shifts, partitions move to brokers with room, in the background. You can stop a rebalance at any time.

  • Observability

Every rebalance, upgrade, and config change we make is in your activity log. Broker metrics stream to your Datadog.

  • API and MCP

Hand your cluster to an agent safely. Our MCP server gives it the dashboard's controls, read-only in production or read-write where you trust it. Scripts get the same through our public API.

What the same cluster costs on Artie vs. Amazon MSK

Artie bills AWS's cost plus 25% on brokers.

High-volume streams, such as market data, ad bids, or IoT telemetry.

Monthly cost for 20 MB/s in, 8 TB retained, on 12 r8g.xlarge brokers

  • Artie$3,648Infrastructure $2,642Data transfer $490Artie fee $516
  • Amazon MSK$10,950

AWS prices for us-east-1 as of November 2, 2026; Amazon MSK prices from AWS's price list of October 14, 2026. Both read everything written once, in the same region. Artie runs in one availability zone. Amazon MSK runs the same number of brokers with the same memory across three zones, with its cross-zone client traffic. Source: Amazon MSK.

Want to stream your databases into Kafka?

  • Artie CDC does it for you

Every change in Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, and other databases streams into your Kafka topics. There's no Debezium or Kafka Connect to run.

  • Already using Artie CDC?

If you're running Artie CDC in your own cloud, Managed Kafka is included. You only pay AWS for the infrastructure.

What we're building next

  1. PrivateLink

Reach your cluster over AWS PrivateLink instead of a public endpoint.

  2. Intelligent data routing

Data you rarely read moves to cheaper S3 storage classes on its own.

  3. Multi-AZ

Brokers spread across 3 availability zones, so a zone outage doesn't take your cluster down.

  4. GCP and Azure

The same managed Kafka on Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.

  5. MirrorMaker migration tool

Move topics off any Kafka cluster, right from the dashboard. Until it ships, an Artie engineer moves you.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Apache Kafka or a Kafka-compatible rewrite?
Apache Kafka. Any standard Kafka client connects, and we upgrade clusters one broker at a time.
What's included in "AWS cost"?
Everything your cluster runs on, at AWS's on-demand price with nothing added: the broker instances, their gp3 disks, S3 for tiered storage, the load balancer and its public IP address, and data transfer when you use it. Artie's 25% applies to the broker instances only.
How is this different from Amazon MSK?
On MSK you still plan storage, schedule upgrades, rebalance partitions, and answer the alarms. On Artie, the platform does that work and our engineers carry the pager.
How do you charge less than Confluent?
We already run this platform for our own pipelines, and software handles the routine work: broker replacement, rebalancing, disk growth, and upgrades. And we don't mark up data transfer: consumer reads cost AWS's $0.01 per GB, where Confluent and Redpanda charge $0.035 to $0.05 for every GB in and out.
What happens if an availability zone goes down?
Launch clusters run in one availability zone, so the cluster goes down until the zone recovers. If one broker fails, the cluster keeps serving: each message is stored on 3 brokers. One zone is also why there's no cross-zone replication charge on your bill. Multi-AZ is on the roadmap.
Can you move us off our current Kafka?
Yes. An Artie engineer plans and runs the migration with you. It's standard Apache Kafka, so if you ever leave, you mirror your topics out the same way.
