MongoDB updates with large fields

Redundant updateDescription metadata is removed from MongoDB change-stream events, lowering the risk that large updates exceed BSON size limits.

MongoDB change-stream updates with very large fields could carry redundant update metadata, increasing the risk that an event would exceed BSON size limits before Artie decoded it.

Artie now removes that redundant updateDescription metadata from DML change-stream events while continuing to deliver the complete post-image for update-lookups. Existing full-document and client-side lookup behavior remains unchanged.

Why this matters

  • Replicate MongoDB updates containing very large fields more reliably
  • Reduce unnecessary event size on the change-stream path
  • Preserve complete updated documents for existing lookup configurations
