# Generate a new Managed Kafka admin password

> Gives the cluster's admin user a new random password and returns it once. Clients using the old password stop connecting as soon as the new one is live. If it is not live yet, the response has a warning and no password; get it from the admin credentials later. Returns 409 if the cluster isn't active, another change of its password is running, or it was built before password login and has no admin password to change. Company admins only.
